Got out of the Marine Corps as an E3. I am now in the Army Reserves and meet the time in grade and time in service requirements to get Specialist however I enlisted as an E3.

Since no one pointed out to you yet, the answer is in AR 600-8-19 Enlisted Promotions. Your time in grade from the Marine Corps does not count for your date of rank, and you can find that information in AR 600 - 20 Army command policy.
You will need to learn and know the enlisted promotion regulation inside and out in order to help your soldiers with their promotions in the future. Good luck

I appreciate all the references SFC. I've been writing them down as you mention them to help me study and learn this new branch. Completely different than the Corps. For the most part.

SPC (Join to see) it's a whole lot bigger and insanely diverse. It's like if you took the Marines and Navy combined and had to make one set of rules to apply to everyone. That's why some rules you'll see won't make sense to you, they have to apply to everyone from the grunt in a combat unit to the nurses in hospitals to the random peope attached to a joint command in an austere location.
Just focus on taking care of your Soldiers while working steadily on self development and you will excel in the Army.

I could be wrong but I don't think your E-3 time in the USMC applies to your Army time. So your TIG begins the day you re-entered the Army. You'll need 18 months TIG before you get promoted to SPC.

Not sure if you are correct either. But my dfas pay stub says my original time in grade from the marine corps and not from the army. I transitioned this year from the usmc

It's as early as 18mths with a waiver or 24mths automatic. Some where in between that. Good luck and welcome to the culture shock.

Not sure since I haven't been a specialist in so long but I think you are right that they're sort of is an Unwritten order of Merit list. Those PFC that stand out get promoted sooner to specialist. Wouldn't hurt to also apply for Soldier of the battalion and go in front of a board. You're going to go in front of a board anyway when you try to make sergeant.
