Military forces deploy to the Russian border, would you volunteer?

Looks like the powers that be think Russia is flexing their muscles a bit too much. Any feeling about heading to an area where I believe we have never been? Looks like a bunch of paratroopers are leading the way. Perhaps the new build-up...but I thought we were down-sizing. Doesn't this send a conflicting message?

Those troops look a lot like I looked when I was a member of the 82d Airborne Division.
Is it a conflicting message - to draw down and deploy? I don't think so. Even as we draw down, we still have to be about our nation's security and security interests.

I am tempted to agree with SGT Michael Glenn. It's hard to act like a super power when you can't afford it, and we sure as hell can't. We need to invest in rebuilding the military, but how can we with our economy in the tank. If we try we'll only end up like the former Soviet Union: A third world nation with a first world military, and we know what happened to them, don't we?
But, I'm only tempted. There is a possibility that we can prevent a war by discouraging the Russians and their misadventures. Their economy is also in the crapper and they might be dissuaded by a show of strength.
If we don't and war ensues, the cost of rebuilding under wartime conditions will be much higher, and if we can't afford it in peacetime, how can we afford it then?

CPT Jack Durish and SGT Michael Glenn we have placed our military might and therefore budget first...and education, hmmn #4 or worse on the list. Putting our tech advancement low on the list...we have historically been the world police force. Since our military cannot exercise force on our own soil, we are in a 'for-profit' scenario with our military. Isn't that a conflict of interest?
Very few get very rich off the wars we wage. As they say, "Follow the money". Profiteering and a private Army (Mercs) have changed the face of the battlefield.
There is no longer an incentive to end war...it is too big, too much money, and so much bigger than you and I. We are working for the biggest corporation in the world....I just wish there was an incentive to save money instead of spend it.

The bush family got filthy rich off of Desert Storm as Bush only let "Certain" companies go over there and guess what...they were all tied to the bush family if not mistaken, was a huge scandal over that one, war is always good for making money and EVERY time the US has had bad times they have gone to war, History shows this with out a doubt.

People like me??? Im lost...I do not agree with obama and his ways, believe that the states needs to be locked down and control gained, believe that the military needs a major revamp as well as the government before this nation will be ANY thing more than money hungry/power hungry over paid boy scouts with testosterone issues. My factual proof was all over the news during bush's terms, show me one company that went to iraq to clean up that wasnt part of the bush family.

Of course, you are obligated to go where ordered, and to obey all lawful orders.
