Recently while visiting a thrift store in Banning, California I purchased this Navy Commander's coat at a Goodwill for $12. The inside pocket with the brand and person's name was cut out. Is this still the modern Navy uniform? I thought it looked great so I bought it. I'm not sure how old this is.

Yep, it is a Service Dress Blue Jacket. Of course it is current for now, who knows what stupid ideas and changed the uniform Board has coming up! (Some sarcasm added....)

I"m pretty sure it is...at least it still was in 2010.

The "new" one's are honestly made from cheaper materials, but every now and then, someone would score a real wool one (usually at a thrift store or online). My last SDB jacket is worsted wool...much crisper/sharper look. The braid becomes a pain because it oxidizes over time (the older type).

Looks the same as I recall, sans the normal medals or ribbons. It looks strange because it is bare.
