Am I required to wear my RDI instead of DUI on my ASUs?

I am about to graduate a Signal course and getting my ASUs ready at this time. I have heard 2 or 3 people tell me I have to wear the Signal Regimental Crest instead of the unit I would like to be affiliated with.
Below is what I found in the regulation:
AR 600-82 (Regimental Affiliation Program) was rescinded and subsequent guidance published within AR 670-1 and DA Pam 670-1 (Wear and Appearance of Army Uniforms and Insignia). Guidance from DA Pam 670-1 dated 10 Apr 15 is as follows. Based on this change to regimental affiliation policy, requests to affiliate with a unit in order to wear that unit's DUI are no longer required. Soldiers may affiliate with a unit an wear the DUI based on their assignment history.
21–24. Insignia representing regimental affiliation
a. Authorization. AR 670–1 authorizes insignia used to represent regimental affiliation to consist of either the RDI or DUI. A Soldier’s Regimental affiliation using an RDI is based on a Soldier’s branch/corps/special branch as determined by PMOS or specialty. A Soldier’s Regimental affiliation using a DUI is based on a unit in which the Soldier is serving or previously successfully served. Soldiers may wear the RDI for their affiliated regiment or may wear the DUI for a unit in which they are serving or have previously successfully served based off their assignment history as indicated in their personnel record.
I know the school house may have their own preferences or requirements but by regulation am I required to wear the Signal Regimental Crest instead of the unit I am affiliated with?
I am not trying to make a big deal out of it but would just prefer to wear my unit affiliation.
Thank You

CW2 (Join to see) Its authorized, but you may find while at the school house, you are required to wear theirs as a uniformity deal.
Present the AR cite that you have, let them know you intended to wear a DUI of a unit you are affiliated with. See if they capitulate or push back..If push back, make a decision if it is battle you want to expend time and effort on.

I’ll definitely try and see if the school has a problem with it. If they do then I’m not looking to fight a battle over it.
We were talking about the regulation in class though so just making sure I was reading it right when it comes to me being able to wear it.

Chief I think you’ve got it nailed so unless the schools house CDR has a particular desire for uniformity esprit de corps or some other like reason I think you’re in the clear
