If you’re assigned to Blackhorse, expect up to 10 days serving as OPFOR per rotation, with 10 rotations a year. Additionally, you’ll still have to complete all requisite tables for your own MOS. Generally, you’ll get one or two refit days during the rotation so you can grab a shower and some real food, and at the conclusion of the rotation you’ll have a three day weekend and a four day weekend followed by a planning week then back to the box.
I’m on the other side of the house as an OC, but I love the assignment.

PVT(P) Aaron M. M. Bryant - I can't speak to current PT, but the NTC Commanding general had set a policy that PT Formation was not allowed any earlier than 0630 to allow for people to commute from Barstow/Victorville. We usually did Unit PT any duty day you were not in the field.

Start hydrating now. Running tank trails was pretty common during my time there. What was "down range" 1994-1998 and other times I was there like 2001 and 2005-6, are now housing and other built up areas.

PVT(P) Aaron M. M. Bryant - recommend you use your CAC access and get the standards book currently in effect and the unit's SOP. It will help you figure out what ever you need to figure out now.

My twin brother is a Bradley platoon, PL there. You’re on rotation every 2 or so weeks. When you’re not on rotation you play as an indigenous force.

I remember when they reactivated the Blackhorse. I was assigned to the MILPO there (yes I was a REMF) back in 94. Lots of time in the field but also lots to do off post as long as you have a reliable POV. Vegas, LA, San Diego all an easy drive away. Just remember to shake your boots out good in the morning thanks to all the scorpions.
