Physicist Stephen Hawking thinks that the Higgs Boson could wipe out this planet and simply put would vaporize this planet through the accrual of mass to particles and yet Live Science says the Higgs says we should not be here. The statistical chance of it happening later on is 10 to the 100 years or a 1 followed by 100 zeros.
The Higgs however is debated because to Hawking and others it may have already happened. lol. Referred to as the God Particle, it is a nice theory while scientists have to do more research. If you to know more access the article through NBC or go to the CERN site. That amazing project sends opposing particles at near the speed of light around a 27km tubes replete with magnets chilled to -271.3K. Colder than outer space!
And the particles speed around this underground tunnel at speeds of 21,000/sec. Essentially crashing the two beams of light together.
To top it CERN has noted a Neutrino anomaly that actually exceeds the speed of light. Stay tuned, more to come.

SSgt (Join to see) - I'm not a physicist by any stretch, but the evidence points to there being a Higgs-Boson. In fact, the current Director of CERN was on the team that found it. If there's more than one Higgs-Boson running around, what then? It implies the multi-universe theory just may be right. Even the most powerful pharmaceuticals couldn't blow my mind like that!

1SG Michael Blount We are in for a very interesting few years with CERN and conflicting theories is fun. I agree that theoretical physics is intensely interesting. I spend a significant portion of the day in this field and Meteorology. I find too many weather forecasters are lazy especially those who have been in an area for a long period. I see that here. GSO. NC They have no comprehension of the science and that is where military weather forecasting makes us sharper than our civilian counterparts.

SSgt (Join to see) just go to the You Tube site and type in "Hawking". There's no end of stuff to download from there and you'll hear it from the Master himself. Or, rather, his speak-and-spell

And what is amazing is not the smartest among Physicists though that is a popular notion. The deceased Richard Feynman, Einstein and Oppenheimer would have been brilliant together with Feynman being the smartest in math perhaps.
