RallyPoint displays our past units as we list them which are drawn from its database with preset information and unit patches. However, it seems many of them have outdated/incorrect info and patches.

Part of the problem seems to be users telling the RP staff that a patch for a unit they used to be in is wrong when they may be unaware it has changed since they left. If units had a set of options for patches that the users could select/pick themselves (based on the known patches that particular unit may have worn in the past), it could fix this problem, as units move around and switch patches throughout history (especially in the National Guard). So if a patch is wrong, a user can contact RP staff to add it as an option, as opposed to just changing it again and messing up some other users profile... Just a thought.

This is RP Policy and back end stuff, so out side my lane.
I have asked about things like units history and locations....what I call an issue others call correct. I served in 7th ID, Fort Ord CA.. That unit and its patch are now assigned to JBLM and is a active duty HQ but not much else... The unit "info" for 7th ID is alien to me and the hundreds of thousands that served with me at Ft Ord... But to those that served currently under 7th ID...it is correct. RP has taken the position to keep unit patches and locations, assignments in a "current" status not in a past historical one. I guess I would ask that there be a historical past attached to that patch as well.... But that is asking a lot... I ask for one move/assignment location back, a Korea vet ask for his former unit assigned to be listed for 1954, 10 moves ago.. That would be a full time position for RP to fill and keep units patch and lineage updated..

SGM Erik Marquez - That "other" site, which is less popular but in someways similar (but inferior) to RP, has managed to accomplish this. However, seeing as it is a large task I was merely asking for us to add the historical patches of various units that we can then choose from to display at the user level... At least as a start.

So just to follow up.... for those not part of the PM conversation..
Its a request fully understood......it just is not possible at this time with how the site is organized, linked, groups, notifications, user feed is fed, ect ect ect.
So it is not that they are not hearing us, and at least one of the RP employee members Ive discussed this with agrees with the request and concept of what we are asking, it is simple not workable at this time.

I have a great example of this I was in the 16th MP Brigade and they had an airborne tab when I was in the unit and after I left they lost the tab I do wish that they would show it as it was when I was there it is not a big issue but I see where there could be a lot of issues for others.

I was actually attached to the 16th MP brigade for about a 6 month period in Iraq in 03/04 and am authorized the combat patch. I too used wear it with the airborne tab (when I did wear it), and didn't realize they lost it. But yes, perfect example. You should have the option to choose which unit patch you wore when you were actually in the unit. It makes no sense to display a patch I/you never wore and that we may not even know is accurate.

SPC (Join to see) - the brigade only had one airborne BN the 503rd MP BN. So the brigade HHC lost jump status and the brigade lost the tab. It happened as I was leaving for the 173rd ABCT. Other units have completely lost jump status and others have be lost completely.
