Your rank is a symbol of accomplishment. Those around you recognize your hard work and expertise because they're familiar with what it took to rise to your level during military service. There are a lot of ways to achieve the same recognition from your civilian colleagues after transition! How are you planning on showcasing your expertise?
Have you found a way to translate your military accomplishments to be understood by civilians? If not, have you considered a degree? It's the closest thing to rank after service. Let us know if any of these options might interest you! http://rly.pt/2nxGpf6

How's this for a resume statement -
"Responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of significant amounts of ordnance items to the detriment of competitors' objectives while preserving the integrity and safety of the employees and equipment in my charge."

- put the organization before your self
- teach and develop others
- treat others with respect
- hold your self and others accountable
- take charge of your area and company property
- visualize, plan, and execute
- share information, don't hoard
Translating to civilians...mixed results. Situation, Task, Action, result for,at in resume. Communicate size of the organization, dollars of stuff or budget, environment (overseas, in theater). In the interview I discussed some of the situations I was in, the gravity/critical factors of the decisions I made.

You shouldn't have to tell them. Your leadership skills WILL be recognized if you are a naturally born leader and lead from the front!
