Are you authorized to wear the 3rd Army patch if you were attached to them for a National Guard deployment (Kuwait, 15-16) in support of OEF?

It was removed in 2014 for OEF for the CENTCOM area, but for OIR you had to be deployed to Iraq, Jordan, or Syria to qualify. There is no end date for OIR yet, but Kuwait was not included in that for SSI-FWTS (combat patch).

It was around June of 2014... I know because I was there and our unit was barely on-ground long enough to be the last group to qualify for the combat patch.

MSG & SGT Jamison: That is correct as far as the REG states however; I deployed with 3/505 INF. RGMT. (ABN) 1990--1991 "Operation Desert Shield & Operation Desert Storm" and, I ETS'd in Sept. 1992 however, those operations weren't classified under OEF--OIR at that time thus, a lot of soldiers deployed with various BCTs and other combat & combat support units were authorized to wear ONLY the unit patch that they were deployed with as; the REG has been updated from 2014 as well yet, you had to get issued orders for wear authorization. I'm not sure but, I think that also applies to Reserve and National Guard deployments as well. I'm an old soldier who has been out for over 20 years now but, I STILL HONOR & SALUTE ALL WHO HAVE SERVED OR, WHO ARE STILL SERVING--(regardless of Branch of Service or Unit) because when it comes down to ("Defending the Constitution of the United States and, The United States against all enemies, Foreign and Domestic"), I'm still ready to Lock & Load at a moments notice....I say that in honor of my father who served with 1/75th RGR RGMT 1969--1971 Vietnam--(May he rest in Peace)....Thanks to ALL who gave their input on this issue because I've seen some Veterans at various VA Medical Centers and Clinics wearing Cammo shirts with name tapes--badges--patches yet, I only wear a few hats and not uniforms because I'm not Active anymore...I wore my Full Medal Dress Uniform to my younger brothers' funeral--(He did get a Full Military burial) but since that time, it just hangs in my closet in plastic.........

I think any group of augmentees PLT and smaller can get authorization, but my DOI is 2009.

MSG (Join to see) - Although it isn't just automatic. One has to be awarded by that unit with orders or memorandum authorizing you to wear the patch.

I had a huge argument with a MSG about this who thought he was automatically authorized to wear the 10th mtn and 82nd AB patch. Just because they were the higher headquarters while he was there during their Change of Command and in country while conducting a recon for 2 weeks before advon and main body showed.
