When wearing ASUs after retreat, with mini medals, do you wear unit awards and foreign badges (e.g. German Armed Forces proficiency badge)?

SGT Justin Jones I would check 670-1 as MSG (Join to see) recommended - it is where all the answers are. Unless I am confused, mini medals are only for the Mess Dress Uniforms, and all other items allowed on the Mess Dress are also miniature. I believe, and I am an expert, the standard ASU only gets Full Sized medals, and yes you wear all of your other authorized badges. The main change is medals replace your ribbons.

It might be easier to buy a mess dress for your mini-medals or full size medals for your ASU. Otherwise, you will get a lot of questions when you go to the function.

This is the best I can find in DA Pam 670-1
22–7. Full-sized U.S. and foreign decorations and service medals
a. Where worn. All personnel may wear full-sized decorations and service medals on the service/dress uniform.
b. How worn. Personnel wear all full-sized decorations, except the Medal of Honor (see para c, below) in the order
of precedence from the wearer’s right to left, in one or more rows, with 1/8-inch space between rows. Second and
subsequent rows will not contain more medals than the row below. Personnel will not wear service and training ribbons
when full-sized decorations and service medals are worn. Personnel may wear U.S. and foreign unit award emblems as
prescribed, when wearing full-sized medals.

SGT Justin Jones - Like I said, that was the best I could find. Perhaps, put the minis and unit/foreign on the coat, then put the coat on and look in the mirror. If you don't like what you see, take them off.

SGT Justin Jones - When wearing mini-medals it is part of the mess dress. Consider wearing with your ASU and mini-medals only the awards and decorations (and size) that army personnel would wear on a mess dress.

MAJ Raúl Rovira - Thank you very much, for your suggestion, Sir. Our Mil-Ball was last night, so I had decided to opt for full size awards to err on the side of caution. I have decided to purchase a mess uniform in the near future, after being strongly advised that it is in my best interest to acquire one, should I wish for my significant other to be in attendance at the next formal event. Aside from the direction of my other half, I have always really thought our mess dress uniform is one of the best looking uniforms of all the services. Once again thank you for your suggestion and time.
