15th Infantry has a cool, simple motto; a dragon; eight (8) Presidential Unit Citations; was worn by guys like Eisenhower, Marshall, Ridgeway, Singlaub, Walker, & two Stilwells; and twenty (20) MoH recipients to include Ola Lee Mize and Audie 'Effin Murphy.

I actually met Colonel Ola Lee Mize in early 1972, 1SG(P) (Join to see). He wasn't very tall and was slight of build, but even in the years close to his retirement, he was quite an intimidating man!

Cynthia Croft - Your golden lion is impressive -- no doubt your family is proud to display it! For its valor in World War I, 28th Infantry Regiment was awarded the French Fourragere, a unit decoration worn on left shoulders of "Black Lions" since that time & which is displayed on the crest of the Regiment's full coat of arms..

Cynthia Croft - Yes, Ma'am. It was my privilege to serve in 1st Battle Group & 2nd Battalion, 28th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division, 1961-1964, including a 1963 Operation Long Thrust deployment to augment U.S. Berlin Brigade (I was in Berlin during President Kennedy's memorable "ich bin ein Berliner" visit). in 2012, I was honored to be appointed a Distinguished Member (DMOR) of the 28th Infantry Regiment primarily because of some history articles I'd written/published.

Cynthia Croft - Be proud! Symbols are important & provide us a method of identifying with our valiant ancestors.
