Enemy at the Gates with Jude Law is also a great movie that is under-rated - probably because the Soviets became our enemies after WWII.

Vietnam era Go Tell the Spartans and a Rumor of War are pretty good... a Marine Boot Camp movie called Tribes was what inspired me to join the Corps...

Enemy at the gates has a strong cast despite being relatively under the radar with Jude Law, James Woods, Ron Perleman. it was another great film.

One of the best movies I've seen that got very little press was "Taking Chance". Really powerful story with Kevin Bacon as a Marine returning a fallen Marine to his home that really grabbed hold of me and stirred some emotions that I usually keep buried pretty deep.

Excellent choice. This was hard but necessary film to watch. HBO did well and Kevin Bacon was outstanding IMO paying respect to the Marine Corp and the honor escorting a fallen service member home. Tears will fall.

I always thought 'Gardens of Stone' was underrated, it was a great film, a stellar cast, and you can't even find it on DVD (other than bootleg)... what's up with that?!

The first time I saw that movie, I had just got stationed in Hawaii. It is my all time favorite movie. "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust lets burry the stiff and get on the bus." Every time I do funeral detail with the American Legion that line pops into my head, then I feel bad.

MSG Wade Huffman - my second Troop Commander was in the Old Guard when he was enlisted when they filmed it and makes a cameo as an extra.
