I would like to know your thoughts on the expanding use of unmanned systems or robots by the DoD branches rather they be ground robots, maritime vehicles, or unmanned aerial vehicles.  I'm looking for not only what you currently think of the systems, but also of their future uses and potential, or problems we may have.  Or maybe moral or ethical sides to the issue of our military using the systems.  It could also be shortfallings you've seen so far with the systems and how you think they should be improved or better integrated into our fighting force.  Are there disconnects from the engineers/manufacturers of the systems and the actual warfighter employing them on the battlefield?  Do you think there are gaps in training the force or leadership in how to employ the systems and or utilize them to their maximum potential?

That stuff scares me, I mean, are turning in Terminators and Skynet era? Seems like the gov wants to rule out humans out of equation, but our brains will never outsmart a micro chip lol

One word, Skynet.

If that is not enough WOPR, HAL9000 and Mike on the Lunar colony.

I think the key thing is that they are not made to be autonomous. As long as they are simply extensions of the combatant, there is less of a chance of encountering an edge condition where it does something "unexpected". The important element that humans bring to the equation is the ability to use context and situational knowledge.

Our company offers Air, Land and Sea robotics and as you may expect, we want to sell a lot of them whenever we can. On a side note on that topic however I am a believer that in Military use I would rather them not be armed. My reasoning for this is simple... I want those in power who make the decisions to go to war to be worried about (Our) lives lost prior to making that decision. With robotics as the primary source of power I feel it to easy to jump the gun and deploy. We need some potential for loss of life to insure these decisions aren't made lightly.
