As leaders, NCOs and junior officers, do you think the military is becoming too touchy-feely?

Hey I really do get it. We do not want soft indecisive troops. We need our fighters to be resolute and not confounded by sensitive issues like DADT and the current state of that, but to understand what is expected and carry that out.
Leaders, what do you think? What changes would you make? This is not about social choices but how you handle people who are 'different'.

Larry, it has been leaning that direction for many years since the late 90s' and I don't see any positive changes coming from the whole issue. However, I think with the current climate created from the current administration, I think we are looking at some changes that will be hard to repair or help for the current and future SMs of the military.

We should bring back the old school method of basic training for our soldiers. When someone takes the oath to join the military, he or she is a "soldier", period. The hands-on, hardcore training methods that were used by Drill Sergeants in the past was designed to strengthen the strong and weed-out the weak.
