I recently got DA selected for for Drill Sergeant school and I already got drill assignment to Fort Leonard Wood,MO. Does anyone know how to get it switched to Ft. Benning before I PCS from overseas? I already called DS branch and they said I can ask someone in school to switch with me but I was thinking my family would be in Leonard Wood already.

How soon after your ATTRS email were you notified of your assignment location? Thank you.

When you called DS Branch did you explain that you were PCSing from OCONUS? Those in CONUS attending the DS Course do have an opportunity to switch assignments with others in the course, but like you said your family will already have moved and it's not likely that they will change you. DS branch changed my assignment location before I departed OCONUS. If they can not help, try calling Ft. Benning's Installation DS Manager and see if they can't pull you over there.

Thank you for the feed back. Unfortunately I have researched everywhere to try to find FT. Benning DS Manager but no luck. I might have to just take my loss and go to Leonardwood

I would reengage DS Branch. The number for Fort Benning's assignment manager is [login to see] according to their website, hopefully it helps. If it doesn't work out making it to Benning at least you will have an enlightening experience working outside of your mos.

SFC Chickos, That is caring and sharing of the first degree. The correct telephone # is often elusive!
