Can any NCO or officer help me out this please that came in pre 9/11. My NCO's got mad at me because some officer is going to recomommed me an award about me volunteering in the past. They are mad because I didn't give them the chance to try to push it for me instead I went around them. They feel like I don't trust them or anything , but it not that I just was taught that no matter what you rank is you are an adult at the end of the day and I was also taught by an senior NCO in my last unit that he qutoe " No one will take care of you better than yourself". Another I having an issue with is they are doing a Oak Tree Counsleing on us now. I came in after 9/11 and in my past unit they didn't care or wanted to know in full details what I was doing for the weekend or on leave. As long as I didn't get in trouble they didn't care. I guess I don't like how they are asking about my personal life when as long as I stay safe and come to pt on Monday then it is okay. I don't want to sound like I am complaing a lot but we also do class about DUI everytime someone get a DUI in our company. To me no matter how many class you give on DUI, suicide or etc people are still going to do it. I don't know maybe I'm the new generations of soldiers but could any NCO's help me out with this and guide me to the right directions.

The comment; No one will take care of you better than yourself saved me more times than it hurt me. As you get deeper into your military career you will realize that, the type of initiative you mentioned above will assist you as you get promoted within the ranks.Oak Tree counseling usually were done for a specific reason back in the days. You might not agree with it now use it as a learning curve to mold you into the NCO you want to become.
