Would appealing to have your DD214 codes upgraded affect your VA disability?

Can't double dip in this situation. If you go back on active duty - loose the VA disability. No it's a totally different area. The VA and military do not communicate unless they absolutely have to which is not likely in your case..

Cont'd: My sister is prior Navy, like myself. She wants to re-enlist as an officer, but her RE-3P code won't allow for that. I told her about upgrading her enlistment codes and she asked how it would affect her VA benefits if she isn't able to return.

You would have to ask a recruiter to be 100% certain, but if your sis is deemed eligible to re-enlist/commission, I believe she would have to forfeit any VA disability compensation she receives.

PO1 John Miller - She understands that. I willing to forfeit mine as well if I can get back in. She's concerned about losing it if she tries and isn't able to get back in.

Speak with a VSO (Veteran's Services Officer), but again I believe that it shouldn't affect her disability should she (or you) not be able to get back in. Anytime disability is reevaluated, the physical has to be performed by the VA, or a VA-contracted physician.
