SFC Richard Giles Congrats on the upcoming retirement! When is your separation date and what interests you the most on the civilian side?

Capt. Charters I retired last March. I had a pretty good nest egg set aside but I don't want to run through all of it.
I will start college this fall, so a little bit of money will be coming in from that. I was a Motor Sgt for the last 10 yrs. so something in automotive would interest me. Also if I go to school full time something in the security field will be good.

SFC Giles,
Congratulations on your retirement. Just to double checking here. Have you gone through all your classes through the Soldier's for Life? You are still eligible for up to six month's I believe. How about Network? Filing for Disability process? I know there is a lot to do regarding seeking employment and it can be overwhelming at times. Schooling can help as far as additional income while you are seeking employment. Definitely, re-evaluate your need's, your goals and concern's with SFL and network. Myself, we were concern about employment and future income flow, after I got the final readings from the VA and pending Social Security. We haven't received our back pay yet for VA so it will be a while. Well, I hope that give's you encouragement and pray that you will be blessed in your transition back to the civilian life. No more PT or waking up early for now. :D

Thanks for the response SSG Beltran. I retired last March. I'm in the process of filing for disability and applying for college. And you are right it is overwhelming but I've been through worse. Is the Soldier's for Life a website? As I recall that name wasn't bought up in the classes I attended and the classes I did attend were very marginal at best.

SFC Richard Giles - Since you've already retired, I'm not sure the SFL program is available to you.

The below links should give you a good start. You will need to develop your profile and upload your resume. Your local DLLR should also be able to assist. I hope these help:
