Because he is a Muslim at heart from his upbringing in Indonesia.

The truth is, he lived in Indonesia for two years when he was about 7 yrs old. While there, he went to catholic school.

Being raised by a Muslim father and having lived in Indonesia in a rich Muslim environment, he has deep-seated feelings of affirmation towards that faith. He has made that abundantly clear since his World Apology Tour and his personally divisive feelings of animosity towards Israel.
