We have Constitutionally Protected Rights. Why is it always the Left leaning politicos that want to keep their rights but take away others. They use augments that other countries don't have/need the 2nd amendment like laws. The Problem is "We The People" are not like other countries. Our Founder Left Those Countries For the Reasons Liberals are using to enforces their Political Correctness on us.

Because your vocalized opinions don't generally leave a classroom full of dead children to clean up?

SSG (Join to see) I couldn't disagree more on every point. Let me address them chronologically. First, our Founders were born here. Their forebears left Europe, primarily England, often because Second Sons were ineligible to inherit estates, and America was full of free land available almost just for the asking. (The Puritans before them left England and Holland because they wanted to practice an oppressive form of religion that was discouraged in Europe.) Finally, most liberals are not trying to take anybody's guns. Many are gun owners like myself. There is a huge and extraordinarily well funded Right Wing Propaganda Machine that wants you to believe that liberal politicians are akin to communists trying to destroy America. The truth is that liberals like myself are highly focused on enforcing Constitutional rights for everyone. As to the 2A, it's really only in recent decades that it was interpreted to give all individuals the absolute right to carry any weapon, anytime, everywhere. That single 28-word sentence with 3 strangely placed commas is, in fact, a very complex issue that reasonable people can disagree on.

SSgt James Atkinson - Outstanding summary. I would add these tidbits of contentious history: The people who fled "religious persecution" were quite extreme and probably needed to leave. Some of leaders in the colonial villages in America were no better than the Taliban. The Virginia Colony was a solid theocracy. The Puritans didn't want "freedom of religion." They wanted _their religion. I'm glad that the Framers of the Constitution reined those people in. That work continues.

TSgt Frank Shirley - Do you really consider Columbus to be a Founder of The United States of America? The man never even set foot on our continent. Plus, he died several hundred years before our Founders were born.

Capt Michael Greene - Christopher Columbus identified and claimed the Americas for Spaion..so yes technically he would be the founder.
