It's always been my experience that the problem was never with PP, but with the briefer who couldn't be bothered to know the subject before the class/briefing. I can't stand the presenters who just read from the slides without any other input. Or worse, going through the classroom having people read in turn.

The last time I gave a class using PP, I reviewed the slides before the class began(I had downloaded prepared slides from a website). During the class, I read the highlighted bullets, then filled in using personal experiences and hypotheticals. Everyone who attended stayed engaged and awake for the entire class. Didn't hurt I used my "outside" voice so those in the back could hear.

It's like I was taught and later taught in TAITC ... Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse.

PowerPoint is the devil! There I said it. The problem with PP is that either the AIM(Angry Iron Major) or one of his/her subordinates want to make it the grandest of the grand briefings for the Boss.

MSG (Join to see) Good points. I always got a kick out of "you effed up our format". If it was done correctly nothing would have been effed up...
You've never heard of AIM?

SFC (Join to see) - AIM ... First time. We used phrases that a British Major I met in theater once referred to as a "most colorful use of Her Majesty's English". If I wasn't so dehydrated I'd have pissed myself laughing. He was far from prudish but loved to play the part from time to time.

In one of my units, the problem was the unrealistic level of perfection required for all meetings using PowerPoint; USR, training meeting, command & shaft, QTB (plus all the rehearsals) you name it. If there were errors, it meant I would be home after 9pm.

Sir - I feel you pain and I believe the two of us could actually be the foundation for a Command and Staff Survival Support Group. REF "unrealistic level of perfection".
I've seen BN CDRs nit pick the minutiae which dragged CMD & Staff Calls out to four hours.
The Absurdity Bar was adjusted to record level when and I s*** you not Sir, the BN S3 once told all the CO Commanders before the old man came in that when in doubt "Support the slide." That became the VERY unofficial battle cry for months.

In any case ref the Command and Staff Survival Support Group we could start out meetings with ... "Support the slide!"

When we go from member to member, we can use the all to common "Next Slide!"
Loving your comment, I'm all in for the CSSSG.

MAJ Raúl Rovira - GREAT But in keeping with the use of confusing exponents, that would be the CS3G. I'm so in need of a group meeting right now I could poop out this cry for help in 72 pitch, Arial Bold, underlined and italicized.

Next Slide. wait ... go back ... again ... one more ... ok ... continue.
