The infantry and aviation do have best barracks. 2-8 FA my old unit had common area barracks. Not the best but certainly better than then the two man rooms we used to live in. Plenty of guys drive 350z just get some studded tires and get it winterized. You will need to get heating pad on battery, oil pan and transmission. Kens auto repair charges 300. You will need it to plug your car in during the winter. A lot of guys get little beater to drive in winter. Well you are fister so you will either be with infantry or cav unit so you will likely get good barracks. Not sure about the training for you guys. The boss program is really excellent they always organize great trips. If you like outdoorsy stuff you will love it. They do fishing trips down to Seward often. Great trip. Fairbanks is small and kind of ghetto. Not as bad as Lawton ft. Sill area. The clubs are nothing but trouble kodiak Jack being main offender. E-5s do not live off post the unit is pretty good at getting you an NCO room or roommate of same rank. You can request to live off post and its commanders discretion. But if you are not receiving bah its not worth it. Apartments start at $900 up to $1400. I was there for 8 years so I am quite familar with wainwright. If you have any other questions feel free to ask
