Is getting a PMP certification advantageous AFTER a certain age?

Most advertisement I see for Project Management positions requiring the PMP versus a master level degree. I am speaking in general terms as we have IT, construction, engineering, software and so on.
There is also a difference in pay for a PMP versus a non-PMP like CW4 Abdulaziz Bulling mentioned.
I am not a PMP, however, I recently had my PM hours approved and I will test in June.

Amn Ed Rey, I have three suggestions for you.
(1) consider taking the PMP Boot camp (preparatory Course) offered by the local Project Management institute (PMI) Chapter. I took one in Alaska last year and it was awesome. It includes a work book with it.
(2) There are may websites on-line where you can take PMP test prep questions. This is a Google search away.
(3) There is a program with Syracuse. VCTP (Veterans Career Training Program) you can enroll for free. http://vets.syr.edu/vctpapp/ There is a PMP program available. TeckTrack is the way to go so you can get a certificate from the University and an advisor if you have any questions on the material.

I got my PMP 12 years after I retired. The organization I worked for would not give me a pay-raise so I began floating my resume. I quickly was offered two positions making $21,000 a year more that I would not have been qualified for without the PMP.

There are lot's of people running projects, not so many people managing projects. I believe the PMP goes a long way toward showing that your intent is the later instead of the former.
