My DEROS is in mid-April with a June report date to my next duty station. I've had an FSTE submitted since last September and still no headway on it. My first line let me know recently that since nobody knows the status, that I should prep my family for moving soon. Well thanks.

Here’s the issue: was told that DEROS was the soonest I could leave my current duty station. Now I am told DEROS is the absolute date I have to leave. Is there a way I can extend my DEROS just a month or so to better give me and my family some time to get this PCS in order? Mid-April is a month away and there is so much to get done to PCS.

I already feel like a S41Tbag for not knowing DEROS and its meaning so please don’t harp on me about that. I need some constructive helpful feedback, even flat out telling me there is no option is fine.

I have a same kind of situation. Currently assigned in Korea, DEROS is 1 Nov 2017 and next duty station, Hawaii, report date is 10 Dec 2017. and I'd like to extend on June 2018 due to my child school period. Is it possible or should I extend only for 60 days? What is standard for the days of FSTE request? Is it depend on the personal situation? Please, anyone, clearify this for me.

I just did an FSTE for about 40 days so that I could stay at my last duty station a little longer before coming to my current duty station. The process probably varies command to command, but adjusting DEROS is a simple paperwork matter. Mine consisted of a 4187 and a couple other forms. Pretty simple process. Your S1 should be able to help you with this.

Very true, simple process. I did file an FSTE back in September for just a few months extension...and still no word yet despite my hounding. And therein lies my issue.

SSG Michael Hathaway - 6 months.....I'd guess your FSTE request got lost. Probably time to resubmit and engage your chain of command for support.

MAJ (Join to see) - Thank you, Sir. I've got command involved, I'm on my 5th revision/submission.

Your Commander can file for a 30 day FSTE (or even more days) to S1 and it should get approved locally and then sent to HRC for them to adjust your DEROS.
