Just got processed into the Reserve. First couple meetings were very productive, and my recruiter was always available to answers questions/concerns. After MEPS, my SF-86 was completely messed up, recruiter not taking back my calls, paperwork lost..

Welcome to the military I guess

EDIT: I certainly don't want this thread to be a bashing contest on all recruiters. While I wasn't the luckiest recruit with mine, I am sure there are some great soldiers out there helping men and women to accomplish their goals through the Armed Forces.

No problems whatsoever, Army Recruiter said I was too thin and they couldn't waiver it. Too Bad I walked over to the Navy Recruiter they could waiver it and 21 years later I retired as a Navy Cryptologic Technician First Class. I am Grateful to both Gents!

LTC (Join to see) I was given a weight waver. I was 5'2" and 97lbs. I weighted the same until I had my first child. I still was within my weight when I gave birth. After having cancer and a hysterectomy did my weight get bad. Had the smallest size of boots too...size 3 still own them 25 yrs later.

LTC (Join to see) - I was Still handling Looking Glass Messages in 87 and Keeping Track of the Top 10 Folks in Charge of the Country every Damn Day. I Remember the Message Listing the Location of the President, VP, Speaker of the House, President Pro Tempore of the Senate, Secretary of State.

LTC (Join to see) - Also Remember My TSCO Top Secret Control Operator asking for My Assistance dealing with a PEO (Presidents Eyes Only) Message. Yeah it was a Misroute, We Destroyed It and Replaced it with a Filler even Before We received the Svc Msg telling it was a Misroute. For Some Reason Someone thought the President was in London that Day.

I am so sorry that this topic even came about. As it is, i take pride in:
-showing every applicant every job that os avilable (we cant make jobs appear)
-processing with accuracy and speed.
-being avilable via any means communication possible.
-finding answers to questions i do not know.
-being honest to the max.
-using no pressure to entise an opinnion.

It is bad for me to read these comments, and these storys are not uncommon. i wish i had been there and i could have set you straight. In less then 60 days from today I will be assuming leadership of a center. These are the things i can help future generations overcome by creating a better army (military) one soldier at a time.

SSG: Hey man, my recruiter was absolutely fantastic. Super honest and up front with me, worked with me on getting my desired job and a bonus even when the slots were maxed. He was also very patient and understanding with me while I was getting clean (THC) and he had me do MEPS in two parts. Encouraged me to the point of a 98 overall score and a 136 GT score on the ASVAB after being out of school for three years, bought OTC drug tests out of his own pocket to see when I could go back to MEPS, and pushed me when I lagged behind in anything so I could be the most prepared for service. I still stay in touch with him every couple of months to catch up and discuss each other's careers (and injuries lol)

My best friend's younger brother is thinking about joining so of course I hit him up to see if his recruiter tour was still ongoing in my hometown and now he's working with him to have a better informed decision about joining up.

Not all recruiters lie, not all recruiters don't care about anything but quotas, not all recruiters are bad. Some truly do their work and embody the Army Values.
