CPT (Join to see) Point Lobos is just south of California's renown resort village of Carmel, which is so quaint that the homes have names rather than street addresses Point Lobos is one more jewel in that picturesque area.
At least one of Ft Ord's golf courses is in operation.
If you have time, I advise the '17 Mile Drive' along Pebble Beach, I focus on the scenery so much that I often make the wrong turn and get lost on that drive.
Along that same Highway 1, my favorite vista is at Julia Pfeiffer Park. Parking is East of the highway. When you walk thru a tunnel under the highway on the left is McWay Falls a small, 80' water fall that is featured on many scenic post cards.
75 miles? miles south of Julia Pfieffer Park, 7 mile North of San Simeon and Hearst Castle is a great place to view Elephant Seals during the November - February mating season.
Lodging at The Navy's Post Graduate school offers breakfast, dining and an interesting pub that serves pub grub in the basement.
The Navy Lodge has open air hallways, nice rooms and coffee in the AM, a small NEX convenience store is w/in walking distance.
Defense Language Schools lodging is older and often used by families PCSing. I met some obvious SEALs there in 2001 in the little breakfast bar. They were obviously there to refresh some language skills before deploying to ?.
Casanova's is one restaurant we have frequented in Carmel.
Great area, take $ and time to enjoy.
