Were too busy performing social experiments with the most powerful destructive force on the planet... That's why.

Cpl (Join to see) - When President Truman sought to integrate the military, the senior military leadership advised him not to. They said the US has a great military and he shouldn't mess it up with social experiments. Around 80% of soldiers surveyed said they would be OK with integrated units only if they didn't have to room or eat with black soldiers. I'm glad President Truman had the foresight and courage to do what was right and overrule his military advisers.

Truman wouldn't have had to re-integrate the military if Wilson hadn't segregated the Military. You see, michael, for every story there is a counter, but a leftist only picks the story that follows a specific narrative. Wilson also debuted the film, birth of a nation, the pro-kkk film in the white house. He was also a huge eugenics advocate and the eugenicists of the day believed black people should be sterilized, involuntarily.

How can we spend so much more on defense than our potential adversaries combined and yet be considered unprepared for war? Do we really lag behind our adversaries, or does our military create unrealistic wish lists of capabilities and requirements that are unsustainable? Looking at those numbers just makes it seem hard to believe that we are somehow too weak due to a lack of defense money.

Plus, our military dwarfs any capability of any terrorist organization. ISIS or AQ, Iran, whomever, didnt make a calculation that they were stronger militarily than the US. In asymetric warfare, increasing the size of the larger side doesnt change the calculus. The smaller side already takes that into account.

If Kuwait had spent the same on defense as Iraq, would Saddam have invaded?

It's also important to consider that the Western European countries enjoy lower military spending because of OUR presence, in their region as well as our spending on strategic deterrent, and technological aspects.

It isn't the amount spent on defense, it's how it's misspent!

It costs money and if it is done right there are no tangible results. We live in a time of instant gratification and people don't understand if they can't fell it, see it or taste it when they want it.
