If you had your PCS orders prior to the unit being fenced for deployment, then you will more than likely be considered a "known loss" and would PCS instead of deploying with your unit. Your unit does have the ability to request that HRC delete your PCS instructions in lieu of the deployment; if they choose to do that.

SPC (Join to see), it would be in your best interest, and that of your family, to begin PCS preparation. With the Holiday season already here, the level of Garrison support for those type of activities are usually staffed at minimal manning.

I would also advise you to ask your PSG to sit down with your 1SG and explain to him/her your desire to deploy with the unit. A call from your 1SG or BN CSM to HRC may do the trick. However, if it does not, you need to be preparing to PCS.

1SG, do you think I can go back down to my career counselor and just have my option deleted? I re-enlisted for Hawaii, I know you can opt out of the option correct? We are currently on block leave, return on 4 Jan. With a "report date" of 10 Jan and a "deployment" date of 17 Jan do you think that will work with so little time left?

I do not think that it will, however it doesn't hurt to ask. It is imperative though that you talk to you PSG and 1SG. They will be your sounding board and will be able to provide you "on the ground" and solid advice. I also cannot stress how important it is for you to be acting on your PCS instructions. By not preparing for your PCS, you may place yourself and your family in a bind if the orders cannot be deleted.

Seems like something SGM Matthew Quick or 1SG Steven Stankovich might be able to help answer.

Thanks everyone for the feedback and support. This is a very stressful time in my career. Any more knowledge of feedback on what I can do to not PCS in such short notice would be greatly appreciated.
