Do you agree with this columnist's opinion of America's political leaders' responses to the Da'esh attacks in Paris this week?

Xenophobic, like so many of the names liberals call conservatives, is just a name. In this case, there is no basis in it. The desire to restrict or temporarily stop large numbers of Syrian refugees is based on evidence of the likelihood ISIS and other bad actors will try to use the influx to send jihadists to America. I bear the refugees no ill will at all, let alone "an intense dislike or fear of people from other countries". But they would be used as a mechanism to kill Americans, so I am with the Congress and the Republican candidates on this one.

Col Joseph Lenertz; I agree with you. The Poll above seems to only cover a very narrow perspective on the issue so I didn't bother to participate in it. You know, history is a wonderful educator, but only if you allow it to be. Many European countries that have have liberal immigration policies for people from that part of the world, or have accepted, voluntarily or not, refugees from there, have had serious problems. It seems to me that when your enemy comes on line and tells you what their stated goal is, and how they will accomplish that goal through refugees and immigration, it would be wise of our elected leadership to be very cautious. Simply bringing tens of thousands of refugees from this region of the world is lunacy.

Yes, agreed. They have not made it a secret. It is a stated goal. That's why I don't accept the comparisons some have attempted with Jewish immigrants in the 1930s. Our wrongness in preventing immigration then does not compare with this situation.

COL Sam Russell i feel that more could have been did to prepare for ISIS in Sryria. POTUS, should re-evaluate his foreign policy and make it stronger in defense for the nation.

POTUS is definitely arrogant. As to the GOP, if saying that "Hey, maybe we should stop the influx of Syrian refugees until we can determine who is and is not a terrorist..." makes them xenophobic then so be it.

And that is exactly why, during this specific point in time, I do not think that we should be taking in refugees from known terrorist-harboring countries.

That's our allies, not the U.S. 25 governors would disagree with my idea being a non-starter.
