I am in the process of this right now.... I have 2 bigger concerns..... 1. What do I wear? 2. Military language vs. civilian language..... Job market does not bother me much, as nursing has many jobs. I will find one that is right for me and go for it. Only 37 more days in uniform!!

SGT Ben Keen - I appreciate your help! The Resume was my first hurdle...THINK I have a handle on that one...has been a work in progress for over 2 years. The "what to wear"..... now that is the crux. I LIKE my blue jeans and t-shirt/sweat shirt....but as my wife points out...I am a professional...therefore I should DRESS like it....I HATE slacks. I dislike polo shirts. I don't like button down shirts for the most part..... I did find a pair of pants made by 5.11 that look a bit more dressy than jeans.... that may be my ticket.... As for civilian language, I am at a double disadvantage.... Military language AND Medical..... "Execution of PRN and scheduled Plan of Care" will confuse many....are we killing the patient or sending them home??!! ;-) Written language I should be ok...it is the spoken, off the cuff that I will have my greatest hurdle for mil/civ language. If you want to see a copy of my resume/cv, let me know.

Maj Chris Nelson - I'd be willing to look at your resume if you feel another set of eyes and a review would be warranted.

SGT Ben Keen - I will never turn down an extra review by people that I respect in the industry..... You may not be medical, however, I suspect that you will be able to review the CV/Resume for what it is from the HR perspective. How do you want me to send it to you?

Biggest issue I faced was trying to convert military language and experience into something a civilian employer could understand and convincing him/her that what I've done matches up with what they're looking for

Well, 1SG Michael Blount, you certainly held a key position. And in your role you had a lot of responsibilities.
I can see how that must have been very difficult for you.

Fortunately, when I retired there were lots of jobs. The issue was which one was best for me and the family. The situation today is very different and unless I had good reason think I was a good prospect for an employer, I would definitely stay in until the real job picture improved.

I like your way of thinking: a lot of common sense, and very logical. MCPO Roger Collins.
