Every year we get the OPSEC briefing and we are told, among other things, that we know our good buddies at ISIS, Russia, China and al Qaeda are keeping tabs on our social media, and not post anything we wouldn't want them to know--and every year I get onto Facebook and remind our enemies how imperative it is they go F themselves, just incase the OPSEC briefing was correct--so I've got to imagine they must be plumbing the depths of RallyPoint for information about all things American military...to include names and information on individual members.
So what do you think, are we being monitored by those with hostile intent?

Undoubtedly. I'm in a few groups on FB related to my previous work and a couple of guys looked at who was "following them". A lot of arab names that they had no clue who they were. If you have confidence in the security of this site to protect you, I think that would be a mistake. I'm sure they do everything they can to keep this place "clean", but it's not exactly pentagon level security. Much of my profile here is skewed with a few "errors" in my information because it just doesn't sit right with me to for no obvious reason give an exact birth date, or an exact clearance, and so on.

I agree with you WO1 Joel Beauchamp. If I had an active security clearance, I would not list it on RP.

Question for the RP administrators: By default, can non-members of RP see all of our posts? If so, perhaps that should change. Soon. Either that, or shield all poster names and photos with "RP-USER" and a silhouette photo of a person.

SSG James J. Palmer IV aka "JP4" - That would effectively shut you down. You'd only see, what, 30 members or so? That seems really...misquided. Also, not being able to see contacts that aren't yours, how will ever meet NEW ones?

Cpl Anthony Pearson - That is how it currently works. You can see everyone's names because you are verified. Everybody can control who can see their name and picture through their privacy settings on the desktop site.
SN Greg Wright - Do not worry, we are not effectively shutting things down. We are putting more focus on presenting content not just by people that you connect with, but also on the topics that you follow and the groups that you belong to. This will help ensure that people will see more content that is of interest to them. If you still want to see 100% of everything you will be able to do that, but most members want a more selective presentation of content.

LTC Yinon Weiss - Thanks for the reply. So long as there's a method of meeting new people, I'm all for it. That rather seems like the point, to me, heh.
