I am trying to find out why some people are saying you have to have tattoos removed and why some are saying you don't.

As the MSG said...its in the DA Pam and AR. To save you some time they say (summarized). you have to remove them (at personal cost) if they are extremist, racist, etc... other than that you should be grandfathered in. If you intended to go Warrant or to OCS and they are outside of the new standard you are out of luck.

You don't have to have them removed. Your tattoos that are out of regulation will have to be documented and measured. Then they will be uploaded to iperms with photos of your tats along with a memo. Any new tattoo that doesn't follow the regulation will have to be removed.

You know i love being in the Army and a NCO but i don't see were having tattoos make you look unprofessional. as long as you can't see them in ACUs and ASUs i really don't see the big deal. but i will just drive on and enforced the standard. and if they kick me out for them its the army's loss.
