What advice do you have to help convince my leaders to allow me to transfer to another unit needing my MOS?

I’m currently in a unit that I don’t like. There is another unit needing my MOS (92Y) (supply) at Battalion level and they are interested in bringing me over there. They told me I have to convince my CSM and 1SG to release me. I’m a great soldier that’s great at their job and they know that so I know it’ll be hard to convince to let me leave. Does anyone have any words of advice on how I can convince them to let me leave. I’m so depressed over there.

Last time I checked, 1SG and CSM don't sign the request forms. They can influence those that do, but at the end of the day it's the Commander that signs the request form in IPPS-A.
Be honest with them. Tell them that staying in the unit is becoming detrimental to your mental welfare.

Unless your unit has a ready to go SGT or SSG that can backfill you, I don’t see this happening. You would have a better chance if this conversation happened between the CSMs rather than relying on you to get released.

What about a one for one swap? The unit I’m in just came back from a rotation and the unit I want to go to is going on a rotation next year and my ETS is coming up but I am willing to extend my contract and waive my dwell time to transfer.

SSG (Join to see) I guess the first question I would ask is do you have someone that wants to swap with you. As a Personnel Sergeant, I am not going to force another Soldier to replace you if they don’t want the swap to happen.
