The standards needs to be the same. If females want to be in infantry they need to do the same as the males

Remember that the PFT is a "Health" standard. The CFT is in theory an Objective standard.

A male & female that are EQUALLY fit (health wise) and expending the same amount of ENERGY will not be able to perform at the same level for the PFT. They'll get the same SCORE though. Women run slower "as a class." (about 1 min per mile). They have less upper body strength, hence the dead arm hang (shifting to the modified pull-up scales).

We CANNOT use the PFT (Physical FITNESS Test) as a measure of COMBAT PROFICIENCY. It's just not designed to do that. It's a "bad" measure, because it's a Subjective measure based on "own body weight."

The CFT is a "much better" test, but far from perfect. The USMC has started adding Objective Testing Requirements however, much like the Range has Marksman, Sharpshooter, and Expert has minimum qualification requirements. Those are Objective which cannot be bypassed. The Commandant has ordered an additional review of both the PFT & CFT to improve both tests.

Let me stop you there. We are not all rifleman. 0311s are rifleman. If you're not an 0311 you learn how to shoot and are expected to qual annually. However, you are not a rifleman.

LCpl Tad Cunningham - No, we are not all Infantrymen. We are all Riflemen. Every Marine is a trained Rifleman. Bare bones trained Rifleman. That is why we have Crossed Rifles under our rank insignia. It's one of the reasons every Marine goes through SOI (MCT or ITB) or TBS. We're all trained to be Riflemen.

Spoken by Gen A.M Gray. Printed on your Rifle Qual book (check it out sometime).

There is LOTS of literature, advertising, and documentation on this. You do not want to try and get into this argument. You will not win.

"Marine Combat Training Battalion (MCT) is a 29-day course. The mission is to train and conduct standards-based combat skills training of all non-infantry Marines in order to ensure that "every Marine a rifleman" is true regardless of their Military Occupational Specialty. Training includes marksmanship, combat formations and patrolling, as well as other combat related skills."

You can throw anything you want at me. I have asked non infantryman questions that rifleman should know (0311 being a rifleman) and they look at me like I'm speaking some foreign language. Every Marine is not a rifleman.

LCpl Tad Cunningham - Not according to USMC and TECOM. Just because someone can't answer your questions, doesn't make Marine Corps doctrine incorrect. It's published on our webpage. Big bold print.
