I rarely recommend a "light read". For some reason this one struck me as worthy of a look see. Partially because it does not pigeon hole nicely into the convenient shelving genres at your local bookstore. It isn't Science Fiction, it is a bit of Fantasy, it features a Veteran, and it shows the transition challenges some Vet's have returning to Civilian life. And it has a plot as common nowadays as humility used to be in my youth. The plot is universal...GREED. Yep.
I breezed through this book in a single setting. Then read it again. Then once again. The Veteran walks a path that I have seen many of my Nephews and Nieces take since returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. That searching for the right place to hang your hat. The progression that takes place as you navigate your way back into life.
I don't want to give away anymore of the book, but I think it is so plausible in most ways, and the Veteran's development is so real...maybe you will see some of yourself in a very easy read. Give it two chapters...and then tell me what you think. Have a good read.

Yes, Nathan Lowell is a very interesting author, several other of his books are set in the future and they are not your usual "Space War" novels. The premise is where a young man looses his mother in a "car" crash and hi is forced to leave the planet he grew up on by joining a merchant ship. The first book of the series is called "Quarter Share". Welcome to the world of Ishmael Horatio Wang (pronounced "Wong").

Read that Series too. He has a unique style. I have just started on his Pixie Novels, and they are a delight too.
