It might take a bit to get into, but don't give up. Trust me when I say that it will be worth it. They're just such massive books that people sometimes give up, and miss out on something great.

SN Greg Wright - I managed to read Wheel of Time (eventually).... And that is a slowwwwweee start. I can stick it out for a bit

Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS - Heh you did better than me, then. I stopped WoT after about book 8. The Malazan series is nowhere near that slow.

SN Greg Wright - I gave up on Mr. Jordan's last solo book (book 10 I think). I just couldn't take it any longer. Too verbose, and that's coming from (me), someone far too verbose.
