I have a profile, and i am constantly judged or looked a differently because of it. My facial hair is not unruly or out of control. It’s low and controlled. I have tried every shaving trick in the book and my face gets bad. Now i do my job better than most at my position. I have a high pt score and i shoot expert. Why does having a profile make me a bad soldier ?

Because in the grand scheme of things, everyone expects to see ALL Soldiers clean shaven (or within the grooming regulations). It shocks people when they see folks with facial hair. They usually have no idea what to do or say other than going to the ass chewing card sitting in their back pocket. Plus, many high ranking folks just hate people on profiles as a principle. Not that they hate the person...but more the profile. I have a permanent no running profile and I still run into folks that think I'm a shit bag.

As long as you have your profile on you, as long as you do your job better and exceeding the standards....then you keep doing you and forget what others say or think. If you get an ass chewing...take the chewing in stride and politely and respectfully show the person your profile. You do you.

Pseudofolliculitis Barbae: there are those that are prone to the condition, and there are those that use various irritants to acquire the condition in the name of: Fashion, Attitude, A slight to authority, you name it. And there you have it, the base information required to understand the "why", and the constant mumblings of; Does he or doesn't he, only his Dermatologist knows.
