USAJobs, the federal government's web portal for job postings, is warning users of a phishing scam targeting its applicants.
According to an advisory, registered users have been receiving emails asking them to revalidate account information. These emails are a phishing attempt designed to get users' information and potentially infect computers with malicious software.

"Any emails received on that subject should be deleted immediately," the advisory warns. "Do not click on any links in the email."
Users with questions about their accounts or the phishing attempt should reach out to the USAJobs support center at my.usajobs.gov/support.

This should come as no surprise. USAJobs is operated by...
The United States Office of Personnel Managment!
That's right. OPM, the recent victim of a massive sensitive data breach, now has a phishing attack on its hands.
I've said it a million times: cyber security is not a sprint. You can't slap a bandaid on your network and expect to be okay. It's a marathon, a discipline. They better get some real experts in there soon and start implementing some layered defenses. Hackers love a soft target.

A site that is mostly useless to start with is now a security nightmare -- who knew?
