Here is a brief homily on the theme of Christ's Return:
---
Brothers and sisters in faith, let us reflect today on a cornerstone of our Christian hope: the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is not merely a future event; it is a reality that shapes our present, infusing our daily lives with purpose and urgency.
When Christ promised He would return, He did not give us a timeline, for a reason. He wants us to live every day in expectation, not in the sense of idle waiting, but in active preparation. The Scriptures tell us He will come like a thief in the night, when least expected. This teaches us to be vigilant, to maintain our faith steadfastly, and to conduct ourselves in a manner that we would be proud to present to Him upon His return.
Consider the parable of the talents. Those servants who used their talents wisely were prepared for their master's return, regardless of when it happened. They lived in a way that made them ready at any moment to account for their stewardship. So too must we use our gifts—our time, our abilities, our love—for the glory of God and the service of one another.
The promise of Christ's return also offers comfort. In a world often filled with injustice, pain, and transient joys, we hold fast to the promise that He will come to judge with righteousness and truth. Every tear will be wiped away, every wrong will be righted, and the faithful will be rewarded with eternal life.
Let this hope for Christ's return purify us, as He is pure. Let it motivate us to mend broken relationships, to seek forgiveness, and to extend grace, just as we have received grace. Remember, our goal is not just to wait for His coming but to hasten it through our prayers and our efforts to spread His kingdom here on earth.
So, let us live with our eyes on the horizon, not out of fear, but from a place of love and anticipation. Let every act be one of worship, every word a testament to our hope, until that glorious day when we see Him face to face.
Amen.
---
May this reflection encourage us to live in the light of eternity, every day.
