Reserves and Active duty.

One minor comment - it'd be more correct to say "you don't _have_ to PCS" as a guardsman or reservist. Depending on life circumstances and career opportunities, some actually do. I've been in the AGR Statutory Tour program since 2010 and have had two PCS's since then - that's going full time in the ANG. On the reserve side, I know AFRC does some pretty deliberate moves for force development with their senior officer types - command experience or staff whether traditional or full time, but that's a pretty small percentage of the guard/reserve force.

Roger that. Well on that note I honestly have no idea of how that part works. I would say either talk to your retention or to an AD Recruiter. I looked up online and it said you need to get a Conditional Release form from the 1 star General in your chain of command. Don't quote me on that though. That is just what I have read online. 

Ok, to go from Reserves to Active you gotta do a Conditional Release. Its a few forms that a Active duty recruiter fills out for you and has you turn in to your CoC usually along with a letter detailing why you want to transfer. It has to get approved by the first General Officer usually in the CoC so expect it to take upwards of a month or so. Once it's approved it'll be good for 6 months from the date it's signed so you only have that long to ship out to active duty. Take the form to your recruiter and they will sign you up for a Active Duty job. A few caveats...
-Anything you got in the last year bonus wise has to be paid back
-You are probably only gonna be allowed to go 18X
-Some recruiters aren't thrilled to help you with the forms unless you're going 18X cause you don't count against quota.
