How do you feel about awarding service members or veterans the Purple Heart for PTSD?
Just so it is known, I don't think this article is accurate at all. Just thought it would be a good topic of discussion.

Well I am now going to go home and throw my Purple Heart in the trash. Another medal the Army has bastardized. Now the Fobits can put it next to their BSM that they got for breathing in a combat zone. What a load of horse shit!

I hope you wouldn't do that, you earned it and will always be held in high regard, you may not agree with adding the PTSD of those to possibly receive it, I do not believe they will be handed like m&m's , the conditions will be strick and would recommend standing down until all conditions are opened.
best regards to you,

Rather than throwing it in the trash, give it to a Vet with PTSD who truly earns it every day.

I think it should be given for physical wounds. PTSD can be diagnosed for a variety of reasons including those that have suffered rape and child abuse. The VA could have difficulties diagnosing combat related PTSD from other kinds of PTSD. I would think that combat related PTSD would be treated as an illness.

As if a fat paycheck was not already drawing in va claims and jamming up the VA services. If PH's were awarded for PTSD I think you would see a spike in claims.

I used to think PTSD claims were BS, until i started working with vets with PTSD, no one is going to fake PTSD for a medal

The Purple Heart should only be for physical injuries received in Combat. To me it would be a slap in the face to those who are apart of the Purple Heart Association. Like my Great Uncle who was their on D-Day and especially to those who lost their lives. It's already bad enough the BSM has NO VALUE NOW because it was given out like CANDY. CO CDRs, BN CDRs, BDE CDRs received one for not losing any troops in theater but yet they stayed on the FOB the entire deployment. When you had SOLDIERS out there in the SHIT everyday and only received an ARCOM, AAM or one of these with a V device for their service. STOP SCREWING AROUND WITH AWARDS but that's JM $0.02
