I am Marine Corps veteran looking to enlist in the Army Reserve as a 25B. I just want to know how it works for prior service going through AIT in Ft Gordon. Do we have to deal with all the fuckery that privates have to go through or are we pretty much on our own program?

Generally you’re going to have much more leaniency as far as restrictions go. From what I’ve seen, the prior service will do PT and class as normal, but they are cut loose following class pending any additional requirements. You will more than likely be completely free to do as you please on weekends as well. This is just from what I’ve heard from people transferring within the Army, but I would safely assume the same rules apply to prior service as well.

Thank you SSG; also do you know whether i'll be allowed to live off base with my family or do i have to stay in the barracks with the privates?

If you have a nearby off post residence it would be up to the command on whether they allow you to live off post or not. I don’t imagine why they would make you live in the barracks if you do though. Especially since you’ll be receiving BAH anyway.

SSG (Join to see) he would be in a prior service barracks and not with the IET soldiers. They keep them separated.
