How should I decide between doing a PPM Move (DITY) VS. HHG Move (DOD)?

I am going to PCS soon and need to understand the best way to do it.
I live in a 2 bedroom apartment roughly 1200sqft.
Most everything is going, but we are getting rid of some stuff.
I know that you can pocket the leftover mom by from a PPM but do you also get paid for doing a HHG.
I would love to understand so I can get the maximum benefit.
Thanks

Transportation will have your answers, they will only let you dity if it costs the Army less than doing HHG. If you do a dity and your expenses are less than what you get then you make a little, go over and you pay out of pocket. I personally always went dity except my OCONUS move, and came out ahead. Inquire at the transportation office and they will break down everything for you.

How do you do a partial dity.
Cause everything needs to be weighed right?

You need to coordinate with the Outbound Transportation to conduct a partial Dity move. It is incumbent that you get weight tickets of your vehicles empty and full.

In my experience a Dity is a lot of work and you run the risk. HHG you get to observe and ensure things are packed well. You are still able to do a partial duty if you have items you wish to control yourself, or need immediately upon arrival. Anyway that is my input. Thank you for your service.
