I've always heard of the "Trail of Tears", but never realized that it was President Andrew Jackson who signed the Indian Removal Act of 1830. See article and the link below for more information.

It is a travesty that the US broke so many treaties, hunted down, and killed Native Americans. Ken Burns has a good documentary called the West in Netflix, he mentions the travails of Native Americans quite a bit.
