One day our squadron went to weekly PT. To mix it up the Sgts thought they'd make it fun/funny and have a competition.

One guy came up with gravity drills. Lay on the grass to a 4 count without moving. Somebody moved, so he yelled at him and we had to start over. I only think a couple of us fell asleep.

That sounds pretty motivating...

We pretty much did it all: grappling, full gear runs, timed station drills, football (tackle of course haha), etc.

The most interesting stuff that we did though just happened to be from where we were stationed in Twentynine Palms... so much sand...

There are two places in particular that the "seniors" love to take the "juniors," (be it commissioned to enlisted, leader to squad, salty to boot, etc.) I did a quick maps search and put some arrows on it.

The blue arrow is the Sand Monster: I am 99% sure it is man made and a hill about thirty feet high or so of pure sand. Literally every step forward is a 3/4 step back.

Then his friend (designated by the red arrow) is the Sand Deamon: honestly not as bad as its partner IMO because it is easier to climb, but it is like three or four times as high and at a much steeper angle.

All across 29 there are many horrible memories but I think those two will always be the most memorable... i think sand gives me ptsd more than anything today.

edit: Oh, they look much less massive from way "up here" so if anyone noticed that I arrowed the wrong location or that i am mis-remembering details feel free to knife hand me!
