Does anyone know where to go to get language testing in the Army for a non critical language?

I have been trying to find out where I can go and take Army language tests. I have only come across the Defense Language Institute, which I would love to do had I the time to do so.

You can always just take a DLPT at your Ed. Center. The DLI website does have training resources, of which I would suggest brushing up on your language with GLOSS.

The above is correct. The local education center should offer the DLPT in most languages the Army accepts. Get a DA Form 4187 to get in and then you take a written and listening comprehension test based on written text and (in my case) a CD track being played.
The highest you can score is a 0 3 3 for speaking, listening, and written respectively. Any better evaluation requires a visit to the DLI.

This will allow you to study at the various levels to ensure you are where you need to be. Though I didn't get to complete Arabic, I am working on it so I can take the DLPT at a later time. Also helpful is the online assessment, which can tell you about where you are performing.
Though you have to preregister, it can be found at https://oda.lingnet.org/
but it doesn't have as many languages (yet).
There is also the Ace My language, DLPT prep, but you'll have to pay and the languages are even more limited.

With fluent Danish and some apparent capacity for Norwegian and Swedish, you might be a candidate for VTIP into FA48 Foreign Area Officer in the future. Any desire to be a FAO?
1LT (Join to see) provides some good advice about getting a DA 4187 in to take a DLPT; I'd just add though that you can take the upper level DLPTs for most languages at Army education centers, too; this allows you to score up to 5/5 for listening and reading. Note you have to have taken the lower level DLPT and gotten a 3/3 in a certain time period before taking the upper level; I think you need a 3/3 on the lower levels within 6 months of taking an upper level; this is because the minimum score on an upper level DLPT is 3/3, and if you could just jump straight to the upper level, everybody would, and everybody would get a 3/3. You can also remotely take an Oral Proficiency Interview; these are quite rare, as OPIs aren't routinely administered, and seem only to be administered as a DLI graduation requirement and for some certain jobs requiring a valid OPI score.
