My family and I are PCSing to 2 ID at Camp Hovey and we're heading out this weekend. I was able to get concurrent travel for my wife and 12 mo son. Anyone have any good tips for traveling to Korea or the unit there?

Stay close to military members and learn a little Korean during your stay, in case you need to take a taxi or order food from Koreans. Most of all enjoy the culture and food.
I was with the 2dn ID myself in Camp Howze back in 86.

Make sure you've already made reservations at the Dragon Hill for you and your family.

Have a bottle with a smaller nipple than your child normally uses for the flight. When you take off feed your son with this bottle, it will help with the pressure changes.
Did you keep your car seat with you? if you did, run over to the PX or walmart and see if they have magna carts. (http://www.amazon.com/Magna-Ideal-Capacity-Steel-Folding/dp/B001HBH1BM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid= [login to see] &sr=8-2&keywords=Folding+Dolly+Cart) borrow a drill and a buy or borrow a quarter inch bit (cobalt preferably). Drill two holes at the back base plates of the magna cart, high enough so that you can clip in your sons car seat using the car seat clips on the car seat. If you do this it will make your life considerably easier at the airport and on the plane. You can cart your son around in the car seat in the airport and when you board, just disconnect the car seat, stow the hand cart in the overhead compartment and strap your sons car seat on the plane seat for a ready made comfortable seat for your son on the flight. My wife and I have done this with our daughter numerous times and its been a lifesaver (especially when we were stuck in Seattle on a 2 day layover due to the patriot express being delayed... which is common. This is also much cheaper than buying a carseat stroller.
Read the incoming personnel info on the USFK home page. Pay attention to the instructions to follow at the airport when you arrive in Incheon.
When looking for an apartment in Dongducheon, I personally would recommend against the Viva apartments, though they are very convenient to the base. Benest apartments were pretty nice from what I recall (2012).
Try to get your family's SOFA stamps while you are in Yongsan. If I remember correctly you wil lonly stay in Yongsan (Dragon hill or off post at the overfill) for one night. then you will take a bus up to Camp Stanley or Casey (if they moved reception). Talk to your sponsor or call the 2ID staff duty to find out where you should make reservations at.
