It is the little things in life that make me proud to be Human. One story involving the Picture I posted from a Rest Area in Ohio way back in 2013. The other story of something I witnessed on a Cruise Ship...which taught me what "Class" looks like in action.

First story: Road side snowman. I had just gotten into Ohio from W.Va. For some unknown reason, I decided to build a small snowman. Probably because I had not been in snow in over two decades. So that "second childhood" gene, kicked in.

I rustled through the garbage to find something to make a mouth, eyes, etc...with. A few moments later, and a Lady comes over and gives me a little black hat to put on it. A moment later, a ten year old girl comes over and gives me a straw to use as a nose. Another little boy fishes a bottle cap out of the garbage for one of the eyes. A teenager comes over and hands me some old gloves to use as arms. Soon there were about 20 people either helping out, or taking pictures of the snowman. I had a schedule, so I hopped back in my car to leave the Rest Area. And I wish I had a smart phone back then (didn't even have a flip phone!). Why? Because as I drove out of the Rest Area, several more snowmen were being built! Adults, kids, Teenagers...all rolling big balls of snow making a whole community of snowmen. I love that memory. The Lady that gave me the hat, had a smartphone and emailed me the picture you see.

The second story took place on a Cruise we took. We were sitting at a big round table in the Horizon Court, sitting with four women. A fifth woman came over to the table to chat with us. She was wearing a bandana around her head.

After a quick conversation it turns out, she had lost all her hair, because of Chemo and didn't have a wig. As soon as she said that, all four of the other women took their wigs off. For the rest of the Cruise, those five women went to the Dining Room as a group. No wigs for the rest of the Cruise. It was one of the quietest displays of Class I have ever seen.

They took an embarrassed and shy woman battling cancer, showed their own battles by just removing their wigs, and then made the Cruise for that shy woman. No big statements. No loud "look at me being a good human being." Just four woman supporting a kindred spirit.

And that, my friends, is Class.
