From March 1967 it was A2C but then converted to A1C in October 1967, still being the E3 pay grade. This same time includes the switch from A1C (E4) to become Sergeant (E4) which then branched off to Sergeant and Senior Airman sharing E4 (in 1976 and the only difference being the White or Blue Star).

If you were discharged just prior to October 1967 (or on the cusp of the switch), then the A2C on your DD 214 stands correct. But, since there is not an A2C rank option on RP, then obviously A1C is the choice to go.

Since you didn't lose any pay, and after all this time.....I am curious as to the nature of why this is important?

Just before I ETS'd AD USAF, I was promoted from SRA/E4 (blue star) to SGT/E4 (white star). I thought it was just a gimmick to try & rope me into reenlisting. However, after 3.5 years on an Army Fort (with me being USAF), I was ready to get out from under the paperwork shuffle. The reenlistment recruiter called me in to try & twist my arm, but when I told him about my past drug/alcohol abuse (while stationed there at NSA on Ft. Meade), he then relented. I had given my life to Christ in Feb of '78, repented of those sins, and ETS'd in approximately Apr of '79 (terminal leave exit). My official ETS was 11Jun79. I would enlist again a year later, but this time in the USAR. Got back on my aviation track in a Chinook unit on Tipton Army AF, in hopes of attending Army Flight School as a WOC. Long story short, I eventually got there (Ft. Rucker) in Sept of '91 via OCS, a Senator Helms letter (due to age), & many prayers.

Could it be that at the time of your RFRAD (214) E3 was called A2C and by the time of your Discharge (likely 2 to 4 years later) E3 had been changed to A1C. I say this due to the fact that your profile says Air Police, a term that also is no longer in use by the Air Force.

THX SP5 Keane and yes, that's true, I think my new DD 215 states government police (maybe). What's the new term? And yes, there was a time difference of 2+ yrs. I enclosed a copy of the orders from USAF reserves stating A1C, but they yet denied.
