And then there is Independent Science that doesn't start with a conclusion and work its way back to evidence.

"Summary / Abstract

Masks and respirators do not work.

There have been extensive randomized controlled trial (RCT) studies, and meta-analysis reviews of RCT studies, which all show that masks and respirators do not work to prevent respiratory influenza-like illnesses, or respiratory illnesses believed to be transmitted by droplets and aerosol particles.

Furthermore, the relevant known physics and biology, which I review, are such that masks and respirators should not work. It would be a paradox if masks and respirators worked, given what we know about viral respiratory diseases: The main transmission path is long-residence-time aerosol particles (< 2.5 μm), which are too fine to be blocked, and the minimum-infective-dose is smaller than one aerosol particle.

The present paper about masks illustrates the degree to which governments, the mainstream media, and institutional propagandists can decide to operate in a science vacuum, or select only incomplete science that serves their interests. Such recklessness is also certainly the case with the current global lockdown of over 1 billion people, an unprecedented experiment in medical and political history."

SSG Robert Webster - I read it and understood it. There are studies out there that have proven that masks, cloth or medical, do NOT stop the infection by airborne respiratory viruses. I have several links to studies that have proven this.

The CDC and just about every gov't official who has chimed in on masks since March has flip-flopped (some several times) on mask efficacy. Like our legal system, I look at a lot of information, and go with the preponderance of the evidence. In this case, the preponderance of the evidence has pointed me towards masks being ineffectual to their currently intended purpose.

SSG(P) (Join to see) - From your answer, you misunderstood the content of the article as well.
It is as simple as this, and why so many miss it. SLOW ≠ STOP

There is more in the article that could be used to illustrate the principle, but this is the easiest to point out. The article does not state what you think it states.

It will simply boil down to the same people providing the same reasoning as to why they shouldn't or can't wear a mask. Personal inconvenience, lack of care, and or self entitlement. The Karen's won't care if the research is done by the Mayo clinic or not simply put.

SSG Robert Webster I read the article while I was working. I was also going back an fourth with this gentlemen. Anyhow the masks only work to slow the spread if everyone wears them if only a few do it pretty much defeats the purpose of wearing them. If you an I wear them but someone else doesnt than we are protecting each other but the third person risks spreading it to us an themselves. By process of elimination either we all wear them or we don't. You can't have in between.

PFC (Join to see) - No hidden message at all.

This is what I stated - Read carefully. Please understand what it states and not what you think it states.

The problem is that most people read what they want into an article depending on the source, instead of actually reading and understanding the article.
For example one commentator believes that the article states that masks prevent the spread of SARS-CoV-2, what it does say is that it slows the spread.

Another issue that people also come away with that they message is that the person wearing the mask is protecting themselves, that is not what it says, it says that the person wearing the mask is protecting those around them.

It is interpretations like those of the first part is what way too many people are presenting as correct, while the opposite is actually the case. Even medical professionals have fallen into the trap of misinterpretation.

CSM Chuck Stafford for a large number of people it is not easy to understand. They are the ones that think that articles like this say one thing when it does not say what they think it says, and they will argue the point until they are blue in the face.
